Ro-Ro ferry operation

This is a unique infrastructure project promoted by OSNPL which shall bring multiple benefits not only to the concerned two parties, but the national economy at large. The Project in nutshell aims at developing an alternative transportation route from existing road side of 519 km to a new navigation route of 123 km reducing a transportation of goods from Saurashtra territory of Gujarat to South Gujarat.

Unique Features of this Project

This project shall benefit the state of Gujarat

1. Faster connectivity between Saurashtra and South Gujarat. 8 hours by sea, against 22 hours by road.
2. Cost effective connectivity: Per tonnage fuel consumption is less by waterways transportation.
3. A huge environmental benefit of operating one engine vessel in place of multiple truck engines over this distance.
4. Good last mile connectivity with just 4.5km away from National Highway 8E

OSNPL will operate a Roll on Roll off service across the Gulf of Khambat from port “Victor” to port “Hazira”, to transport loaded empty trucks, other vehicles across the Gulf. The vehicles shall be able to the Ro Ro vessel, be lashed with lashing gear, ride to other side, unlash and drive out.  OSNPL intends to facilitate the movement from end to end by providing the road connectivity from the highway to the berths, waiting area for trucks and vehicles, food and lounge for the drivers onboard, the lashing and unlashing of the vehicles.
